We live in Alabama and have purchased a home but still have 6 mos. left on our
lease agreement. Can anyone tell me what rights I would have. We have already
vacated property and advertised it religiously the last month in the newspaper.
In the meantime our landlord has gone in and put in new carpet in the upper part
of the home (since this still had the old brown shag carpeting). He also wants
to sell it by owner (or rent w/option to buy). He is also asking for a 1 yr. lease
at a higher rate. I would just be happy to find someone to take over the remaining
6 months (even at a lower rent) and we pay the difference.

PS: We did try to contact an attorney and had faxed him our lease agreement to find
out what his fees would be and somehow our landlord had found out about this.
