2 things....you'd better be sure you have a rent stabilized lease...or
else....

1...with a RS lease you are entitled to a renewal......period. If it not
your screwed..

2....pay for the stove....whats $5 a month.....and shut up about sharing
the apartment..... yes its legal Im suprised they didnt want to raise
it more....they are entitled to 1/40 a month increase for any new
appliances....so pay it ..

Heres the deal........you have got to stop being so STUPID!

And realize that YOUR cheap rent is your future.....think of how much
you can save toward your retirement ....you have a IRA or 401K right?

Realize you may never leave that apt for MANY years...so get used to
it......DO NOT piss of the Landlord...be grateful you have a cheap place
to stay considering they want to double the rents when you leave..

DO NOT piss off you roomate....things can get UGLY especially when a
cheap apartment is involved....

Now do you get it....

-------------------------------------------------------------

: i renewed my lease for another year in august for my murray hill studio (i think it's rent stabilized and probably 8 studio apartments or more in the building). management is renovating the apartments of those moving out and doubling the rent.

: can i stay after my lease is up? will they try and evict me?

: how much are they allowed to increase the rent?
