: : My husband and I moved out of a house we were renting and were not given back our full security deposit even though we did no damage to the place. Our landlord kept $20 for cleaning supplies, $23 to fix a stove that wasn't even broken and $42 for labor. Is this legal? Any advice? Please answer - we are so upset!

: You can sue the SOB in Small Claims Court, and demonstrate the apartment was clean, the stove wasn't broken, etc..

If you are in NY, contact the State Attorney General's Office. It has jurisdiction on security deposits, if the bldg is rent-stabilized.
