It is known as " nail and mail ". Meaning that one copy goes in the mail via certified and regular mail and another copy is glued on the door and sometimes another one under the door. There is no legal issue here other than the fact that the person was lucky enough to not have " sewer service " which is a copy NEVER going to the tenant in any manner. Then one day, a man with a badge and a gun puts a 3 day notice to vacate for "failure to answer" the legal papers. That can be overturned with an order to show cause, most of the time. If not, in 3 days you and all your stuff are in the street!!!!!!!
