I was renting and apartment and the landlord had the same line or con game
planned for me, "its a coop" he said ectera, and he probaly does not even know how the
term coop came into being. Well I got a card in the mail from the rent guidelines board
right around when he was starting and eviction process against me
I called RGB and they were no help i.e anything the landlord does is legal.Well
I called the FReedom of information law office at DHCR, and they
sent me the rent history for the apartment I was living in and sure enough, it was rent stabilized.

: I have been leasing an apartment in a prewar co-op building for the last five years. The landlord supplied a lease for the first two years, but since hasn't given me one. He currently wants to raise the rent by 20% this year and another 15% next to write up his unit to market value. Is this legal, and what can I do to prevent this? I think the apartment is rent stabilized.
