Moving out; Does the New Roomie I Find Have to be What the Other Roomies Want?

Posted by Chad on March 14, 1999 at 20:02:49:

I am in California.

I am in a 1 year lease with two roommates who have become unbearable to live with. I have moved out and am trying to find a replacemtn roommate for them. They are Insisting on only a female and other things that make it very hard to find a new person.

The landlord won't get involved because it is a roommate descrepancy, and I have moved all my things out. I found plenty of men who would take the room and will qualify under the landlord's needs, but the two roomates won't even let me show a male the room.

I won't be paying rent after this month, and they are talking about taking me to court. But, since I have found adequate replacement to the LANDLORD'S needs, do the replacements have to also be exactly what the other roommates want?
