I would file a complaint with HPD Housing Preservation and development, They
will have it fixed for you. If that does not work, I guess you can hire
a plumber to fix it and then deduct the fee of the plumber. but make sure,
you notify the landlord of your intentions. Forget the mail. just call him
and HPD. You can write if you want, but , that just gives him more time.

Take pictures of the leak if you can a picture is worth a thousand words in court.

: Oftentimes I get no hot water at all or only a small trickle. I have notified the landlord about this 2 months ago, but nothing has changed, and I want to start to pay a lower rent next month. How much can I deduct for this?
