Theres a good book published by Nolo press that explains the procedures of
courts for non-lawyers . the title of the book is how to represent yourself
in Court. i went to a housing conference and they had a publication
of court procedures. I think you can probaly get something like that
from the housing group in yourcommunity. Ours is GOLES Good old lower east
Side, if you can hire a lawyer its better sometimes they can get there legal fees
if your adversary was to loose.

Oh I think if you go to court with or with out a lawyer the judge will
require them to produce the documents you mentioned by the rules of discovery
in your state. I don't know what state you live in but you should ask a lawyer.
They also have a link to there website at Nolo Press click the link below if
you wish to go there

:
: The apartment complex where I use to live is very unsafe. Lots of robberies
: mugging incidences use to happen. One day in the night at 1:00 AM some came
: by and was bangging on the door. I did not reply and the person left.
: Two days later some one came around the same time and this time he told me
: that he is from the Apartment complex. I did not open the door and immediately
: called the police. This man after some time PUT OFF THE POWER to my apartment
: I was shocked and did not know what to do. He did not break in but left after
: some time. The police came on the scene and they did not find any one. They h
: helped me put on the power.

: I broke the lease and left that Apartment complex. I wrote many letters to the
: manager to let me off the lease with out penalty. She never replied any thing in
: writting. She refused to do that. The manager told me that it was the Apartment
: representative who knocked on the door. I asked why, whe said some one complained
: that there was music going on in my apartment. I asked her they did not call
: me when it was so late in the night, whe said they usually do not do that. When I asked
: her why he put off the power, she refused to accept and said that it would not have
: have been some one else. I told her that it was against the law. She refused to
: accept and said it would have been some one else.

: 5 months later now I find that they have Sued me for $1500, for the lease
: penalty. I have court hearing next week.

: I am 100% sure that it was done by the Apartment rep because I did not open
: the door. Not sure how I can prove it in court.

: 1. Could you please suggest if i can go to court with out a Lawyer ??
: Hiring a lawyer does not make sence because the amount is less that attorney fees.
: 2. Can I get help from public attorney ??
: 3. What should I do if I need to get the records of the Complaint which my
: apartment rep has got. I talked to the manager and she refused to give me
: any thing in writing or the copy of the log book/complaint details.
: 4. Please suggest what all could help me prove the case and win the case.

: Any other suggestions are welcome.

: Please help!!
: I do not know any thing about court procedures too...
