Word of advice:
Tenants are entitled to replace locks (and even have completely new locks installed) and should do so.
If anything goes wrong with the tenant-installed lock, the landlord is not responsible. So, if you're going to replace or install, get a good lock.
NB: Landlords are not FREE to roam in and out of your apartment without proof of EMERGENCY. Neither are supers.
I know of one landlord that broke down the door of someone's apartment as harrassment. Claimed an emergency. When the case went to court, it was proven that there was no emergency. The landlord lost and was forced into paying pentalties.
Change/install those locks folks. It's your right to do so.
