Loud banging/harassment from neighbor

My neighbor across the hall from me has rude teenagers that bang on my bedroom wall during the day. I work graveyard/mightnight shift so its the only time I have to sleep.

I've begged the LL for 3 months now to help me get them to stop, but they are saying it's difficult to do anything because they can't catch the teenagers doing this. When they send the security guards to the floor floor, the girls run or they're no longer there doing it.

It's annoying and all anyone can tell me is to make sure I document everything. I'm doing that but it's not doing me any good if the LL won't help and they're saying I have no proof.

Is it illegal to video the hall outside my bedroom? (Which is the same place where people wait for the elevator.) I would be using a small spy type camera. I feel like it's my only hope to get this to stop.
