Law to warn tenants of harmful contaminant use?

Postby brooklynbrenda » Mon May 10, 2004 8:42 pm

There is an apt two floors below me that has undergone renovation over the last several months. Tonight when I came home around 7 pm, workers were completing a layer of I believe some sort of polyeurethane on the wood floor. The smell is horrific and I have all the windows open and the fan on high trying to clear the air. My throat hurts, I have a headache and I am sick to my stomach. This is harmful and unjust. Is there a law that states a landlord has to apply this type of harmful contaminant earlier in the day and NOT at night when people are coming home from work? Is there a law that the landlord should warn tenants of the harm to their health and that they may want to consider arranging for other sleeping accomodations for the night?
