lead presence

Postby Alan » Fri Mar 21, 2003 2:50 pm

The landlord of my rent stabilized apt has been renovating the apt below me for a year now. A lot of dust has entered our apt as a result. Since I have a six month old, he tested for lead and one of the swabs taken (in the hall closet) showed 1000 micrograms of lead per square foot which is well above the compliance figures for HUD and NYCDOH. He is having an abatement firm clean my apt tomorrow. But I am concerned about the exposure my family may already have had. Does anybody know how dangerous this level of lead is? And is there some action I can take against my landlord for negligence and failure to maintain the legal level of habitability?
