Hi! new renter here, LL is a condo owner in a 6 unit walk-up condominium. Lease terms include heat and hot water, gas and electricity are my responsibility. So the heating appears to be coming from the baseboard style radiators that run through every room. There is a thermostat in the apartment that I believe is hooked up and working. With the temps creeping down in NYC, and bills starting to come in, my neurosis is asking all sorts of questions. If the heating system runs on hot water, and I pay for the gas that heats that hot water, then who really is forking over for most of the so-called "included utilities"?
Are the baseboard units steam units or electrical? The latter might be illegal. NYC usually requires buildings have central heat.
Normally you pay for cooking gas, not the gas or oil that is for hot water/heat. But investigate to see that is the case.
