COVID-19 and Rent Relief Issues

Postby Landlords Boy » Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:30 am

I do have tenants who are in financial straits since COVID hit.

Most of these apply for rent relief from the various programs available. A few, however, don't complete the paperwork or simply bug out of their apartments without paying.

The only reason I can think of why this happens is that these tenants feel shame or embarrassment about needing rent relief. What sense does this make? Complete the paperwork for rent relief and not much of this money will come from you but from the government. In a few months that's likely going to change - indeed, the big federal program ended last month.

Was there a question posed? This is the only post in this thread - were you responding to someone?

The state and federal programs have been extended. The Federal CDC moratorium now goes to January 31.
