NOTICE TO QUIT-- What to do?

Postby jnba » Sun Mar 23, 2003 1:00 am

hello all,

I have been served with a Notice to quit eviction notice, days before my lease is up, the LL did not send me my lease renewal offer and I assumed just go or call the office to set up my appointment, now i have been living here for 20+ years and constantly travel out for buisness as my work demands.
What could be the chances of me not losing the apartment and renewing my lease?
Please guide me time is running out.

Thanks in advance,

It would be helpful to know what city you're in, if you're rent regulated and the nature of your lease. Your rights and solutions may depend on these things. A 'Notice to Quit' is what is commonly called a Notice of Termination. That usually means the landlord is electing to terminate your lease prior to its expiration for some specific grounds - which he would usually need to specify. A non-renewal of a lease is something different.

Well about the lease renewal Doesnt he have to send me an offer 60 or 90 days before lease is up?
also can he terminate my lease in a short notice?

Thanks,
