LL trying to collect arrears from his own(and the manage

Postby ajou » Fri Sep 27, 2002 2:21 pm

Hi there...I hope someone can help me out on this one...

I live in lower Manahattan near the WTC, and after Sept 11 last year the landlord had the current management company inform us that they would be decreasing our rent 10% from 9/19/01 to 12/31/01. After that, we would be informed what the LL's decision would be going forward. Now we have a new management company, who recently sent all the tenants(from 9/11/01) a letter stating that there had been a mistake with the old management, and that we now have to pay the 10% difference from January 2002 to now. Is this legal? Is there any way we can fight this or protect ourselves? I appreciate the help!

we are going to see a lawyer tomorrow to see what our options are. i have the letter from the management company with the decrease. the letter never said anything about the rent going back up after january. but i am confident that they will not get away with this! thanks!
