lease expires

Postby ssergey » Tue Jul 23, 2002 10:34 am

My lease expires soon but my landlord didn't send me neither renewal lease (apartment is rent stabilized) nor eviction notice. Can he evict me right after the lease expires or he has to go thru some procedures or he has no rights to evict me at all since he didn't give me a chance to renew the lease? I don't really want to contact landlord, after all he has to send me something, doesn't he?

First: if you're stabilized, you should have posted in another section: NYC Rent Regulated Apartments.

Second, he is required by law to offer you a renewal lease 90-150 days before your lease expires; he can't evict you for having 'an expired lease' (unless he lies and claims he did send you that renewal notice....).

Go to the homepage of Tenant.Net click on NY Tenant Info
http://tenant.net/nyc.html read the DHCR Fact Sheet on Renewals for starters (it is NOT the last word)
