Suitable Housing?

Postby WizzardJoe » Mon Jun 03, 2002 8:30 am

Question?

My landlord is selling the house we live in. We have 6 members of our hosehold, one of which is elderly and in a wheel chair. We have been unable to find suitable housing so far. We have lived here for over 3yrs and have never been late with our rent, Is there any law that can help us with extending our stay until we find suitable housing?

My Landlord, which had her attorney send us a letter stating we need to be out by July 15th

If you have a lease, they must wait until the end of the lease. If not, then they must give 30 days notice (assuming it was a proper notice). If you're rent regulated, then not at all. If you wish to buy time, you can negotiate for more time or hold over - then they must take you to court. They will probably get you out, but you can extend the process in order to find new digs.
