I have a lease that is expiring on 7/31/02. I am unclear as to whether or not I am obligated to a 30 day notice (as stated in my lease)since they have left a notice on my door that my lease expires on 7/31/02 and I must come into the office to renew or go month-to-month.
I am in California and I have been told by two other Apartment Management companies that I am not obligated to the notice since the contract expires at the end of the month and I am not a month-to-month tenant.
Does anyone know if this is in fact true? If so, is there a law that I can go to for proof to the Prop Management Co. They are saying that I am still responsible for rent until August 8 (since I gave them an official written notice today).
