Paint fumes

Postby flour » Mon Sep 27, 2010 10:24 am

Hi. The building was painted and strong fumes are coming in. I use an air purifier but it does little. Can I bill my LL for the cost of staying at a hotel?(I won't stay at an expensive hotel, but not a flea bag hotel either). Thanks.

You can ask him if he would pay for a hotel, but I don't think he has to pay for one.

You'd have a very hard time getting this by most landlords without a lawsuit.

Best bet is to open all the windows, tape the doors, and turn on a fan. An air purifier isn't likely to help much and it doesn't usually move enough air volume to make a difference.
