LOUD MUSIC at 3 AM! - Legal Remedies

Postby bobbymak880 » Sun Mar 13, 2011 11:49 am

I have a tenant who repeatedly plays music late in the evening. The police have been called several times. Other tenants have complained to the building's management. What are the next steps to be taken to evict the tenant?
Isn't there a penal code statute?

I'll spare TenantNet the usual response:

This is TenantNet, not LandlordNet.

It's unclear if this poster is a landlord or a tenant. He says, "I have a tenant" but he also speaks of the LL in the third person.

In any case, a noisy tenant can be just as much a problem for other tenants as for the LL.

Bobby, have you researched this forum? And the web site? There are several articles on noise. It's a very difficult situation to deal with even if the LL is being cooperative.

And Bobby, unless you want to be harassed, I'd read the Forum Rules and change your username to something other than your real name or email address.

This definitely sounds more like a tenant. Why would a LL state that other tenants have complained to the building's management? Wouldn't the LL BE the building's management?

But the line about steps to evict a tenant sound LLish...
