Security deposits

I have not paid my rent this month or last month. I had an emergency and was placed on a temporary disability until January. I'm still employed and have every intention on paying rent in full. However, when I took this apartment I had to pay the 1st months rent, last month, and a security deposit. So technically, the landlord has two months worth of money that was given ahead of time. I owe two months. I have just received a dispossess notice. Do I have to pay the money all at once or can they use the security deposit and allow me to just pay the next months rent?

What are my rights?
