leasing start date earlier than expected move-in date

Postby whyyou » Fri Jul 13, 2012 9:23 pm

I just signed the lease and did not realize the leasing starting date earlier than than requested move-in date, even the apartment available date. Any advice about what should I do to fight back the rent? Thanks.

The term of the lease will be stated in the lease as being from X date to Y date. That is the time in which you have a right to possession. For terms such as "requested move-in date" and "apartment available date" how are they stated in the lease? Are they defined?

Thank you for reply. In the lease, no move-in date or available date were listed. But I do have email stated the move-in date.

Is it just a few days, or something more substantial? Are they willing to prorate the rent for that month?
