3 of us who are residents of the student apartment got into the elevator with 7 of our friends. Total of 10 people on the elevator (Elevator capacity = 15 people, 2500lb). 5 of our friends started jumping for about 3 seconds and then the elevator stopped working and stopped on the fifth floor. After about 2 minutes the elevator opened and we left.
The landlord is billing us $900 because they had to “locate the governor switch, reset it, and check the operation.” The servicing took 43 minutes. The bill was divided into “Mechanic, Mechanic travel, and Sundries.” This seems like an outrageous fee, especially because there were no damages made.
