More than roommates

Postby mimilarue » Fri Aug 22, 2003 9:28 pm

I heard that when you live with an individual for a certain amount of time...whether married or not...that each person is entitled to split the value of what is in the home. Is this true? I am having a problem with a roommate and they were more then just a roommate. I helped them build equity on their home but I was not on the deed....I helped them get the place..and now we have decided to go our own ways and they are selling the house and making a large profit off of it. I asked for a very small portion and they agreed that I should at least get that, but now they say that they have changed their mind. Can they do that...Is there anything that I can do? I feel like they would not be getting this large sum of cash if I did not help the home get in the condition that it was in.
