Security Deposit ???

Strange problem, I don't know if anyone would be able to help. I signed a 1 year lease with an ex-friend. Sufficed it to say thing went wrong. I moved out of the house 5 month ago and continued to pay my half of the rent plus utilities I didn't use. Roomate paid security deposit by cashiers check and I repaid her. Since both names are on the lease shouldn't the deposit (if any) be made payable to both of us?
