kicked out!!

Postby Jennifer32 » Wed Jan 07, 2004 1:52 pm

My landlord just gave me and my family 30 days to vacate the apartment. We got notice 2 weeks before our lease was up, then 30 days. Its now dead of winter, and we are trying to find a place , but its very difficult. I have 2 children, 12 & 2. Does anybody have any advice what to do? If we leave with no place to go to we will be out in the street. She needs us out to fix the things in the apartment that should of been fixed long ago, she is trying to sell the place, and the buyer won't buy if it isn't fixed. Can she get away with doing this?

Why did you not take heed when the LL gave you the first notice? You could contact the courts if you think tht the LL has some how not followed the rules. What does you lease state about giving notice by either party? You could stay and have the LL evict you and tht will take some time or you can start looking and move.

It appears that 30 days notice is sufficient...

Use any internet search engine for 'Rhode Island landlord tenant'
