NJ HELP!!

My mother fell on our driveway the other year. We had a very steep driveway that was slippery when wet and had severe cracks in it. This was the condition when we moved in. The landlord is trying to say that we were responsible for maintenance of it and we should not have used rock salt on it. She is counter suing us. Does anyone know of any laws/statutes that would help us? THanks in advance.

This more or less fals under personal injury -- and there's not much expertise on that here. If it's a question of liability, it's probably a question of negligence. Not sure how the LL can maintain a counter-suit (what damages?), but it may revolve around who was responsible for maintenance. Your best bet is to get a personal injury attorney, one who knows what he/she is doing.

My mom has her lawyer. The landlord is suing us if she is in fact found responsible for her costs. Unfortunately we can't afford a lawyer of our own, and legal aid won't help for this type of case! Thanks anyway!
