Hopefully later today we'll be installing a Captcha in the registration process for new forum members. All existing members will be unaffected. A Captcha -- we've all seen it if you don't know the term -- is when you need to type in a word or series of numbers that are distorted intentionally in a graphic. This is used to filter out spambots that use automatic scripts to register fictitious names. Along with the false names they include links to sites that sell drugs (often the one that starts with "V") and porn sites. In the last few weeks, we've been hit with a lot of these spambots and it's a chore to filter these out. So all this means is that new members will need to type in the word or numbers in order to continue the registration process.
