Adding Spouse to Lease

Postby rjrsmnyc42 » Wed May 22, 2019 7:44 am

I would like to add my spouse to my lease. I've read through a number of posts on TenantNet Forum and understand my rights as a rent-stabilized tenant. Please advise if I can send an email request to my landlord requesting the addition of my spouse or should I send a request via regular mail? Also, can you suggest what my letter to the landlord should state and include?

We've covered this topic many times. Do a search on the forum for "spouse" and there should be 18 pages of results. search.php?keywords=spouse

Chances are all these threads will cover any questions you might have. The manner you use depends on the LL and your relationship. But in the end you should probably send it by certified mail. Chances are the LL will request a copy of the marriage certificate, so have that available.

As for the letter, we can't write your letters for you.
