Question about Rent Stabilized Rental History

Postby Nickcurcio22 » Sat Apr 13, 2024 3:41 pm

I recently inquired with NYS HCR Rent Information about my apartment’s rent history. When I received it, I had records back to 1984 stating that it was rent stabilized however the rent was not listed past the year 2001. I moved into this current apartment in 2022 with no sign of it being rent stabilized. From what I saw on the lease, it was a regular private lease. After 2001 (where it says RS and legal regulated rent: $847.00) on the rental history for each year, it says
*REG NOT FOUND FOR SUBJECT PREMISES*. Does this mean my apartment is legally not rent stabilized anymore if that’s even possible? What are the next steps in trying to figure out if I’ve been overpaying for my current apartment? I appreciate the help!
