Health Condition and construction

Postby geoffnet » Tue Oct 15, 2002 5:41 pm

I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for the following problem: I know a tenant who's rent stabilized and suffers from emphysema and chronic asthma. Her bedroom closet's ceiling fell in (this has happened in the past)and her landlord wants to do the work however last time it was fixed her health condition caused her to become sick for a month, miss two weeks of work etc. In essence she needs the construction to be well-contained, with a minimum of dust particles etc in the air. My recommendation was to write certified mail her conditions to repair, with a Dr's note, the results of the previous construction (her illness flaring up) and proceed from there, i.e. if the landlord goes ahead with construction without the proper precautions to take him to housing court.

Is there something I'm missing? Any suggestions about what to do in addition to this?
