My landlord has brought me to court for a non-payment case. I have a VERY strong counter-case involving violations of the warranty of habitability as well as the multiple dwelling law (tons of HPD violations, certified letters sent to the landlord, pictures of extensive damage when part of my ceiling collapsed, etc, ect.) I think I have a very strong chance of getting at least a 50% abatement as well as an award of damages.
Today, for the THIRD CONSECUTIVE TIME, the landlords attorney had to ask for an adjornment in housing court because the idiot property manager didn't show, yet again. I've now been scheduled for a "final trial" in April, and would just like to speak with an attorney for counsel. I'm not really interested, I don't think, in having this person represent me in court.
Anyone have a good person they know of? I'm willing to pay, as I believe I would be able to be re-imbursed when the case goes before the judge.
Much thanks!
