breaking lease/roomate problem

Postby calgal32 » Tue Sep 03, 2002 7:45 pm

My situation is 2 of us on the lease neither wants to leave and both wants to stay in a stabilized aprt. but not with each other.
1. If I decide to leave and break the lease does the lease break for both or does the one who remains simply take over.
2. I've made up my mind that If I go, she goes, because I did all the work to get the apt, take care of most paperwork, utilities, etc. and have remodled significantly. What can I do to make sure that If I leave my roomie will have to leave too (she is on the lease).

Nothing. If you leave, she has a right to stay and vice versa.
The above information is from a non-attorney tenant activist and is not considered or to be used as legal advice.
