Succintly: I had an illegal sub-tenant. LL found out. LL served a 10 notice. I moved out. Sub-tenant signed a NEW lease. Everything was wrapped up. LL lost no month's rent.
However, NOW, I want my security deposit back. Does LL have any legal legs to stand on in withholding my security deposit? I haven't contacted him yet. What are my rights? Could he sue me over the fact that I sub-leased my apartment for a couple of years before he found out.
