holdover proceeding-

Postby bikegirl » Tue Jan 18, 2005 2:49 pm

My roommate was only name on lease for RS apt on UWS and vacated out of NYC. LL gets greedy and offers me a new lease higher than max vacancy increase allows (17-20%). I visit tenant.net and local housing office and next time LL comes over I ask to see new lease and copy of old one. He freaks (not as stupid as I look, huh) and tells me to hand over check for rent or get out at end of month. I stayed and just got a 10 day notice to cure, ie vacate. questions: LL does not know my name, can I answer in court as "J Doe"? How long and expensive (for LL) can a holdover be? How much more time do I have before the marshalls come a knocking?
