Postby HELP IN VA » Mon May 12, 2003 11:48 pm

ON APRIL THE 20TH MY CELLING FALL, BECAUSE MY UPSTAIRS BATHROOM PIPE BURST. AND NOW I HAVE PART OF A CELING AND NO FLOOR. TO TOP THINGS OFF THE LANDLORD GAVE ME FIVE DAYS NOTICE FOR MAY'S RENT. AND MY TOWNHOUSE HAS NOT BEEN FIX YET. WHAT DO I DO. I HAVE FOUR KIDS. AND I HAVE TO WORK. AND THEY HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL. THIS IS MIND BLOTTLING. SHOULD I PUT THE RENT IN AN ESCROW ACCOUNT, OR JUST TAKE HIM TO SMALL CLIAMS COURT.

If you are from Norfolk, VA, than you are not subject to New York rent-stabilization and are actually posting this in the wrong forum.

In any event, my suggestion is the same: you have serious grievances and a bigtime legal problem to boot, and you really need a lawyer familiar with the landlord-tenant laws in your area, not an internet forum.
Keep in mind that I am a tenant. Not a lawyer!!!!!
