Lease renewal

Postby tcat » Mon Jun 21, 2004 4:52 pm

I live in a rent stabilized apartment and never received a lease renewal. (The actual piece of paper). THe landlord claims to have sent it Certified, but I never got a slip. In the past, they had always sent me one certified, one non-certified. Stupidly, I thought the lease expired in June, when in actuality it expired May 31. Now they will not send me a renewal and want to take me to court. Do they have a stong case or should I fight this? I do not owe them any money to date, and in the past the people in the office have been very courteous. I feel the LL is trying to scare me away since he would be able to make a lot more money on the apartment if I were to leave. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
