I recently got behind on my rent but have got it caught up. My roommates and I are on the lease but they want to find a new roommate by Nov 1st because they dont think I am going to have next month rent and they dont want to take a chance of eviction. The reason they feel this is because I just started back at work and they dont think I will have the Money. So my question is can they do that or do they need to give me more then 2 weeks notice (actually a week in half).
If you are on the lease they can't kick you out no matter what they feel. That's the LL's call, not theirs and he would need to go after all, not just one of the co-tenants.
If you are not on the lease and just a roommate, the those who are on the lease need to give you minimum 30 days notice and if you resisted, they would need to take you to court in a Licensee proceeding (in effect they would be acting as landlords).
