Lack of Heat

Postby Kristina D. Risso » Fri Nov 08, 2002 12:01 pm

I'm not getting heat in three of the rooms in my apartment.

Do I still have to pay the full month's rent?

What are my rights?

Thanks for the reply, Me Again.

I'll bleed the heater/radiators this weekend.

Usually there's a small bleeder valve that needs to be turned (slowly!) with a bleeder key or a screwdriver. You let water out for steam heaters, and you let air out for hot water heaters. As soon as you let the water or air out, you immediately turn the valve closed again. Your best bet is to request the super do it because if you don't know what you are doing you can let the pin out, turn the wrong valve, or break the bleeder valve, and then you will have water or steam pouring out, not to mention some heating problems!
