cash payments

Postby banana » Wed Jun 19, 2002 2:26 pm

I'm about to move in a new apartment and the landlord wants the deposit in addition to the rent in cash only. It's a month to month rental i.e. no lease. I met the old tenants and the owner and all seems to be on the up and up but still I feel like I need more than just a hand-written receipt for these transactions. Any suggestions, or are hand-written receipts adequate proof of payment? Thanx

Nope-don't do it. If the LL will only take cash that's a huge warning sign.
