Eviction Notice

A co-worker's daughter has been having some roommate problems. The roommmate is the PT. Long story short, they verbally agreed she would move out by the end of June.
Last night she finds a Marshal's Notice of Eviction in the mail. I know she needs to file an Order to Show Cause (improper service). [I'm assuming from what she said the PT always picks up the mail so probably just hid the postcard.]
If this is restored to the calendar, can she get an adjournment to get cancelled checks or more time.
