Hello,

If requested, are NYC landlords required by law to return a tentant's deposit + interest incurred on the deposit?

Please advise.

Thank you,

Interesting question. How did you ask? In writing? Certified mail? How was your apartment left? Can you prove it was left in good order? Pictures?

This is why most tenants do not pay the last month's rent: because landlords most often keep their security deposits.

In over twenty years in NYC I have never heard of a LL returning a security deposit. Anybody out there?

YOU WIN if you know of someone who got theirs back!!
