Roommate Threatened Me - Need to Evict Him

Postby koolx » Sat Jul 20, 2013 10:52 pm

My mother and I have been leasing an apartment for 40 years. I got a nasty roommate who won't leave. This guy cursed and threatened me by text saying, "you better not knock on my door." I have all this text saved on my cell. I fear my mom may be in danger from this guy. The police said that I have to go to Landlord Tenant court to hopefully evict him. I have some questions:

1) is his threat hard enough to get a restraining order or order of protection to put him out of my home this week? I want him out as soon as possible.

2) what are the chances for success for people in my situation of getting this guy kicked out?

3) do I need an expensive lawyer? Or legal aide?

If that's all he said, I don't think it's sufficiently threatening to get any type of order. But I'm not an expert in such areas.

Yes, you must go to court, and you should give him written notice as soon as possible. You should consult with an attorney.
