NYC Housing Connect Annual Household Earnings

Postby joetherenter » Tue Sep 06, 2016 6:38 pm

Hi folks,

I received a letter after entering housing lottery on nyc housing connect,
that upon review my income does not meet the guidelines.
And if i have additional info that would entitle me to appeal, to please contact office.

I have not filled out any applications, only entered the housing lottery.
My registered income on the housing connect website is above the threshold.

However my income is actually below the threshold.
I am self employed, and have read that typically an average of 3 years of NET income
is used to determine annual household earnings.

I may be well below the 20,000 required, maybe around 15,000 but have some savings in double that amount.

I have read one instance where this might be considered and the story ended with someone being rejected. But it mentions a hint that savings might affect qualifying in a positive way. A few hours of googling and I'm empty handed on whether to apply or not given my annual household earnings are lower than the 20-25g. required.

Should i apply regardless ? All other ducks are in order.

I forgot to mention i think this is an 20.80 building.
I think I read that the management company actually sets the low parameter guideline.
Where the state and fed set the high or max income guideline
and the letter is from a management company.

The purpose of this site is to help tenant with problems related to their tenancy and not to help people find apartments. There are hundreds of web site that can do that.

However, Housing Connect is a government program, not a broker. But even so, we know nothing as to how it works. Any program will have specific guidelines on income, how much, where it comes from, what must be reported and what can be exempted. Most also include an appeals process.

You say your income is misreported on the web site? Can you adjust it yourself? Have you called them asking for a correction? Obviously the incorrect number came from somewhere. Either you put it there, or the City did based on other documents.
