A question re: intercoms

Postby sumosaki » Wed Apr 26, 2006 3:58 pm

I recently found out my building is an SRO. I live on the upper west side in Manhattan. My question is as follows.....
Is it not true that ALL apartment bldgs. built before (I think I have the year right ), 1960 are required by law to have an intercom system from each apartment to the front door for security purposes?
There is a women here M-F from 1-7pm who doesn't let anyone in... Truth be told I have yet to figure out what purpose she serves, except to give the tenants their mail, (the boxes are in a cage with her that is locked when she leaves), & she doesn't even do that correctly, considering she has sent back my mail.. Which is against the law.... Should i report her to the post office for taking it upon herself to tamper w/people's mail& I'm curious about the intercom system.....
I have lots of other questions, but I figured I wouldn't overwhelm you all at once....
Thank you for your time... It is greatly appreciated.....
