affordable housing

Postby newone » Tue Sep 02, 2003 12:58 pm

i am in the middle of 2 issues here, my landlord gve me a 3 day notice to pay back rent, and i'm also suing the person i sublet to, for non payment. i will go through the motions on both issues, but i', afraid. i'll lose the case with my landlord, i feel i will be homeless. is there a place i can apply for public housing in the lower east side area. the landlord has not given me a lease, then she gave me one, then a week later gave me the non payment notice.

The waitlist for section-8 housing public is several years long. And while you may request housing in a specific borough, I do not believe that you can not request a specific neighborhood.

I don't know of any low cost housing that is likely to become available within the timeframe of an eviction. There are very few affordable housing options, and most have long waitlists.
