How Do I File Disagreement With HPD Inspection Results?

Postby Emeraldstar » Wed Jun 21, 2006 11:23 pm

Hi All
To Summerize: I do not agree with the results of an HPD inspection re: water leaking/hissing sounds/pipe bangs in pipe behind toilet emanating from apts. above/below mine. Does anyone know what the protocol is with HPD when a tenant disagrees? Thanks for any advice. :)

HPD, or any other agency, can only write a violation of conditions that the inspector actually observes.
Get a copy of the actual inspection report, then write a letter to the head of the dept serving your borough.
Note: hissing & banging of pipes are not, in and of themselves, a HPD violation; sometimes they are symptoms of plumbling/HVAC problems, sometimes they aren't.. Perhpas you should call 311 again with a Noise Code violation complaint instead...
