Is there a place online to find out if there are prop liens

Postby sikntired » Thu Dec 23, 2010 1:46 pm

Does anyone know where I would go to check a property in Bklyn and see if there are any liens or if a home equity or any loan was taken on the property. Someone changed the deed without the owner knowing it.

I know I should get an attorney but they want 5,000 and the (former) owner of the house doesn't have it.

Thanks

www.nyc.gov
then Department of Finance. They have a database of all properties. But be aware, there can be a lag time between the event and when the owner reports it to DOF ... and in some cases, not at all.
