LEASE/eviction

Postby my2boysjj » Fri Mar 14, 2003 5:25 pm

Can my landlord evict me out of my apartment without taking me court. I came home one day and my apartment was closed. the marshalls had been there and changed my locks. I had not gotten any written document to go to court prior to that. When i went to court the judge sided with him. I did owe rent and I was given a one shot deal by the city to pay the backed up part of the rent. I called my landlord because i needed a letter stating who the check would be made out to, and he told me that his fax was not working and therefore told me to come in the office. When I got there they first wanted to charge me for the letter and then told me that if i didn't sign the lease he would not give me the letter therefore i had to sign the lease without wanting to. If i didn't sign the lease today was the last day that I had to give him the check but if i didn't have the letter the city would not give him the check. Is this legal????
